Hoping to find Peace?

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in every moment.”  Henry David Thoreau

Hello, my name is Christine Zettel.  I am a registered social worker, working in the community mental health setting for 14 years. I am now embarking on a new adventure, offering counselling to adults throughout the province of Ontario.

My work experience has given me the opportunity to encounter many wonderful people who all had at least one thing in common–they were facing a life situation that seemed too big to handle on their own.

We all go through stressful times in our lives and we are usually able to pick ourselves up, dust off and carry on.  But occasionally, we sense the need to have someone else to talk to, to sort things out, to learn better ways of coping.

If this sounds like you, I invite you to contact me to explore a counselling relationship.

What is DBT?

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapy aimed at helping individuals learn skills to cope and function more effectively in their lives.  Originally developed for the treatment of borderline personality disorder by Marsha Linehan, PhD in the 1980’s, the use of this therapy has broadened to include treatment for a wide array of problems including depression, bulimia, binge-eating, bipolar disorder, and more.

“Dialectical” means ‘the existence of opposites’.  In therapy, individuals are taught skills to encourage the development of two opposing concepts: acceptance and change.

Throughout the 15 week course, individuals will be guided through the 4 core units of DBT therapy: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness.  Ample time will be given for discussion and questions.

Use the contact form below for questions or clarification or to register.  You will be contacted within 2 business days.

Individuals are encouraged to register EARLY due to limited spaces available.
